uTorrent v3.0 Beta TEST

Help us grow. Share with your friends!

I opened uTorrent today to start seeding some of my torrents and a window popped up saying that a new update is available. I clicked on download update! And the new version 3.0 beta got installed. At first I thought it would be some bug update, but then I found some major design changes.

First change you would notice is the new “health” column being added in the torrent list.

The next change you will find is at the bottom left your the screen. Its the Drop to send files box!

Lets see how this thing works.

At this stage, the file information is sent to the utorrent server and you get a screen like this when you or your friend clicks on the link.

You may ask whats the benefit of such a system. If you observe carefully you get a some major advantages from this kind of file sharing. First of all it is very simple to send a file to your friend. You do not need to create torrents and upload it to torrent websites. Secondly this kind of file sharing reduces a lot of burden on servers because it is peer to peer file sharing with much easier way of sharing stuff.

If it is a video file that you are sharing, the person receiving the file will be able to stream it if he is using utorrent v3.

This new version supports streaming videos contained in the torrent. So that means if you are downloading a TV show from torrents, you might be able to stream it and watch it even before it is downloaded completely. Thats a very good addition they have made on request from several users for past few years. I am very happy they finally implemented it in this version. I don’t need to wait for the whole movie/TV show to get downloaded anymore.

And then there is an option to run a particular program after your download is complete. Pretty self explanatory if you see the window here:

Thats all for now.
