{"id":394,"date":"2010-09-05T10:54:24","date_gmt":"2010-09-05T10:54:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nuclearrambo.no-ip.org\/wordpress\/?p=394"},"modified":"2023-04-16T19:04:00","modified_gmt":"2023-04-16T13:34:00","slug":"diy-ecg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nuclearrambo.com\/wordpress\/diy-ecg\/","title":{"rendered":"DIY ECG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Currently i am working on simple ECG circuit (electrocardiograph) using simple sound card input to view the wave forms.<\/p>\n<p>Required materials :<br \/>\nLM324N &#8211; Quad op-amp<br \/>\n100k resistor<br \/>\n1k Resistor<br \/>\nsound card<br \/>\nsome copper coins<\/p>\n<p>So heres how you get started:<br \/>\nConstruct the following circuit<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"ECG circuit\" src=\"http:\/\/www.swharden.com\/blog\/images\/simple_ecg_circuit2-525x374.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"374\" \/><\/p>\n<p>yes you got it right, the circuit is very simple.<\/p>\n<p>Now grab some copper coins or any metallic surface, attach some wires to it and those wires will go to the + and &#8211; of the opamp as shown in circuit.<\/p>\n<p>I would highly recommend that you put those electrodes on your chest.<\/p>\n<p>Download the software Goldwave, and get started. Turn on your circuit, connect the leads on your chest. Start recording on the software, you should see sudden spikes on your screen in the recording software. Probably that you will see a lot of noise. But the spikes will be visible coming out from noise.<br \/>\nRecord for around a minute or so. After recording there is a option for low pass filter. I aim on working more on circuit in coming few months.<\/p>\n<p>My main aim is to get a clean ECG waveform combined with a pulse oximeter.<\/p>\n<p>NOTE: Building your first ECG will get you confused about a lot of things. It is not easy to identify ECG waveform when you are doing it for the first time. A small reference book is highly recommended for you.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/affiliate.buy.com\/fs-bin\/click?id=rkk43ovqzkI&amp;offerid=252787.207533932&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ak.buy.com\/PI\/0\/500\/207533932.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ad.linksynergy.com\/fs-bin\/show?id=rkk43ovqzkI&amp;bids=252787.207533932&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\nThis book has a lot of great information and I found it really very useful in my project.<\/p>\n<p>And there is this reference book which helps in analyzing the ECG waveforms. This book describes various symptoms that could be diagnosed after studying the ECG waveform.
