I only listed the problems I faced as an installer up until now in four years, and I&#8217;d like to share it with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the issues will be for specific security systems\/cameras. 's' : '') + ':\/\/www.profitabledisplaynetwork.com\/a488f095e80c8a74746e5fdca977eaea\/invoke.js\"><\/scr' + 'ipt>');\n<\/script><\/p><\/center>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">IP Camera stops working all of a sudden \u2013 powered off<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q:<\/strong> <strong>My IP camera stopped working all of a sudden \u2013 powered off.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A:<\/strong> The first steps to take to troubleshoot this issue is to see if the camera still receives 12V DC from the power supply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take a multimeter, set it to DC measurement and test the DC connector which the camera is plugged in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If it shows, 0V try removing the connector to test the wires directly. Still 0V? Then either the power supply or the power cable itself is faulty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you have done all this, the fastest way is to cover up the IR sensor and see if any red LED appears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">IP Camera gets powered on, but it doesn\u2019t send\/receive any network data<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q: IP Camera gets powered on, but I can\u2019t find it on the network or view it remotely.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A: &nbsp;<em>Every solution to this problem also applies to the security systems as well, not just IP cameras.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Install a <strong>dedicated software<\/strong> for finding the security system on the network. Each brand company has specific software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, Dahua security systems and cameras use Config Tools as the dedicated software, Hikvision uses SADP and many more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, you should try scanning the network using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.advanced-ip-scanner.com\/\">Advanced IP Scanner<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the help of Advanced IP Scanner, it should also be clear if there is an <strong>IP conflict<\/strong>. Try setting a new IP just in case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You should also try checking if <strong>port forwarding settings<\/strong> are still there if the router port is dead or the router itself is gone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is also a possibility that the camera\u2019s <strong>network adapter<\/strong> is fried and should be sent to the supplier if you still got warranty time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ultimately, if you can access the camera and get to its interface, try updating its <strong>firmware.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The network settings might have reset to default, or the <strong>DNS addresses<\/strong> are incorrect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For DNS I usually use 8.8.8.8; 8.8.4.4; 1.1.1.1 which are DNS that point to Google.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once I set the <strong>Gateway<\/strong> to 192.168.0.1 when it was 192.168.0.254 and I spent 2 hours trying to figure out why the system was not working as intended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cloud servers<\/strong> could be an issue if the camera is stored there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of the times, people complain about not being able to see it remotely when there were several factors at hand:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They were not home, but on a trip;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Main power got cut off;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transformers got damaged;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cameras got hacked<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ISP (internet service provider) made settings without announcing you beforehand;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dedicated App on the phone is outdated<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The best way is to go to the <strong>\u201croots\u201d<\/strong> to find out the main problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nuclearrambo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/hdd.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-6327\" src=\"https:\/\/nuclearrambo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/hdd.jpg\" alt=\"hdd\" width=\"449\" height=\"299\"><\/a>HDD seems not to work anymore<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q:<\/strong> <strong>HDD seems not to work anymore. Nothing records on it.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A:<\/strong> Use the inbuilt SMART function of the security system to scan the HDD for bad sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everything is green (anything red is bad), and we rule out the sector problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Find out if the HDD is visible in the HDD management tab in the security system interface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a possibility you might get Not Exist error within the security system interface. It\u2019s probably the transformer used to power up the security system and the HDD (it might be too used up). Try changing it with a new one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If none of the solutions above work, try changing the HDD cables that connect to the security system board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">No image on the monitor when plugged in security system<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q:<\/strong> <strong>No image on the monitor when plugged in the security system. I used both HDMI and VGA and none work.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A: <\/strong>Try using another monitor as that one might be dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Try to access security system interface using a PC\/Laptop instead of using a monitor and see if it\u2019s still visible on the network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Change the <strong>HDMI cable<\/strong> with another HDMI cable or the <strong>VGA cable<\/strong> with another VGA cable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Transformer<\/strong> might be too weak to power the security system and the HDD, so the HDD is probably sucking all the power to stay alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The security system doesn\u2019t have enough juice left to send the signal to the monitor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last and most troublesome is the <strong>death<\/strong> of the security system itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Image is clear, but weird lines are moving on the screen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q: &nbsp;Image is clear, but weird lines are moving on the screen. What\u2019s causing this?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A: <\/strong>First thing to check is the <strong>power supply<\/strong>. With time, the power supply weakens, performance decreases, therefore it might not have enough power to keep a constant voltage to all the cameras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Especially for the night, the camera IR (infra-red) sensor activates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>consumption is at a maximum at night<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rarely is the actual CCTV camera itself or the connectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Image is not clear<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q: Image is not clear or fluctuates often.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A: <\/strong>The CCTV cameras are <strong>Analog type<\/strong>, look carefully for imperfect <strong>BNC connectors<\/strong> and remake them if possible on both ends of the cable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Must not be mistaken with weird lines moving on the screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The other type, for <strong>IP Type Cameras,<\/strong> <strong>RJ45 connectors<\/strong> are the problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With <strong>FTP\/UTP cable,<\/strong> the <strong>transceivers<\/strong> that transmit signal are the problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">No camera signal despite having voltage and them cameras being new<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q: No camera signal despite having voltage and them cameras being new<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A: Few things to do here: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go straight looking if the <strong>cable is damaged<\/strong> (while the power cable might be functioning, the signal cable might be not),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Look at the <strong>connectors,<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Test the camera with <strong>another cable,<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Install another camera on the same cable and see the effects.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nuclearrambo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/multiple.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6328 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/nuclearrambo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/multiple.jpg\" alt=\"multiple\" width=\"361\" height=\"254\"><\/a>Multiple security systems within the same network troubleshooting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q: What if I have various security systems within the same network? What should I do so they work together seamlessly?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A: <\/strong>For two or more security systems to work seamlessly within a network, the first thing is to observe for the IP\u2019s that are already given out by the router\u2019s <strong>DHCP server.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s imperative to scan the network with the <strong>Advanced IP Scanner<\/strong> and see what IP is free to use. Why? Did you properly format it when you installed it in the DVR\/NVR?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every electronic component inevitably dies (like humans, plants, animals, etc.), so look for <strong>bad sectors. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Get to the main menu and verify that the settings for recording are okay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Usually, we got two options, continuous record and motion record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.125rem; letter-spacing: 0px;\">In the case none are selected for each camera individually, it means it never recorded in the first place).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Old DVR\/NVR can cause disturbances in the recording schedule of a camera. Update the firmware to the latest version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">I don\u2019t remember my admin password.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q:<\/strong> <strong>I<\/strong> <strong>don\u2019t remember my admin password. How to reset?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A: <\/strong>Ah, the old problem all of us face at one point in time. To forget is human, that is why notebooks are useful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Try to remember the password\/hints at least.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some security systems have a reset button inside them; others don\u2019t. In my case, I had to reset the password for Hikvision security systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Until the last year 2018, I used a specific method to reset passwords using old SADP software<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s used to find cameras and DVR\u2019s or NVR\u2019s for Hikvision brand and reset passwords).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The whole method went like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I was adding a serial code and the date when the system was powered up and then I would receive a generated code.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>With that code, I was able to reset my password.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Since that doesn\u2019t work anymore, I contact my supplier if I need to reset passwords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I suggest you do the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The supplier can ask to do specific steps which are not hard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will surely require dedicated software for that brand to be able to reset a password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nuclearrambo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/hacked.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6330 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/nuclearrambo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/hacked.jpg\" alt=\"hacked\" width=\"389\" height=\"259\"><\/a>My system has been hacked<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q: My system has been hacked; what to do now?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A:<\/strong> I\u2019m sorry, it\u2019s the end. Throw the system away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nah, I&#8217;m kidding. I fooled you, didn\u2019t I?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Firstly, get your system <strong>off the radar<\/strong>. Remove the <strong>RJ45 connector<\/strong> from the DVR\/IP camera, so it\u2019s not connected to the Internet anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do a <strong>full format<\/strong> and change the IP address manually. Use <strong>different ports<\/strong> than you last used and forward them on the router.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Create a very hard to guess the password, for example &#8211; <strong>%!@6setting%#&amp;*@<\/strong> &#8211; and don\u2019t forget to write it down in a personal notebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Get the system under <strong>HTTPS protection<\/strong> if it has that available in the network options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Add a <strong>second router<\/strong> to create another <strong>IP class.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What do I mean by that? Hear me out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Router gateway IP is 192.168.0.1<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The first router gives IP\u2019s from 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>By adding a second router, it opens the possibility to create another class with 192.168.1.1 being the second router\u2019s gateway.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The second router is now able to give IP\u2019s ranging from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254 while adding a second layer of security.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hackers have to break into the first router before getting into the second one.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>To read more about how to do a LAN to LAN or LAN to WAN connection with two routers, <a href=\"https:\/\/nuclearrambo.com\/wordpress\/how-to-set-up-router-connection-for-lan-lan-or-lan-wan\/\">this guide<\/a> might help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Never give out information about your security system. Keep the security system up to date using firmware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lock system security <strong>smartphone app<\/strong> behind a password to ensure no one can hack it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can\u2019t export footage to a flash drive<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q: I can\u2019t export footage to a flash drive.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A: Solution 1:<\/strong> Format the flash drive to be clean before inserting it into the DVR\/NVR. Make sure it has enough size (i recommend minimum 16GB as the footage files are not just a few MB).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Solution 2:<\/strong> Flash drive is damaged. Replace with a new one<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Image quality is bad.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q: Image quality is bad. Why?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A: <\/strong>Are you watching on a monitor when you are saying that? Make sure the monitor receives at least 1080p resolution from the security system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For the CCTV camera bad image quality, these factors apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bitrate (3000 \u2013 4000 Kbps bitrate recommended),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Brightness, contrast, colour, etc<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resolution of the camera itself<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Compression mode (H264, H265 etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mainstream or secondary stream<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>For smartphone camera apps, specific settings allow changing the flux. One is continuous<strong> flux, <\/strong>and the other one is <strong>clear flux<\/strong> (this one allows using all the resources available to give a clear image).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<center><p><script type=\"text\/javascript\">\n\tatOptions = {\n\t\t'key' : 'a488f095e80c8a74746e5fdca977eaea',\n\t\t'format' : 'iframe',\n\t\t'height' : 90,\n\t\t'width' : 728,\n\t\t'params' : {}\n\t};\n\tdocument.write('<scr' + 'ipt type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http' + (location.protocol === 'https:' ?
